Meet Patrick Dowd – City Council Candidate

March 31, 2007 by Amy

Hey Folks – Patrick Dowd will be at Tazza D’Oro on Sunday, April 1st from 4 pm to 6 pm. This is your chance to hear one of the candidates for City Council speak about his visions for our community and District 7. Amy has also asked Patrick to address his ideas to revamp the City’s strategy for energy conservation and “greening” our communities.

We hope for a great turn out by potential voters because we all know that our local government representatives have the greatest impact on our lives and our quality of life in our communities. Right?

Put a cork in it?

March 25, 2007 by Amy

I spend my days tasting all the delicacies of our espresso and coffee and the evenings tasting some amazing wines. La vita dolce!

I ran into two old friends, Anna and Steve at the new wine store in East Liberty – Oh what fun. We were talking about life, work, Tazza D’Oro and exchanging suggestions about wines. Steve returns from the temperature controlled room and reports that there are bottles of “Old Telegraph” from the Bonnie Doon Vineyard. Hmm, I say, California and triple yikes a screw cap!!! But knowing Anna and Steve, it must be good. I spend the 30 bucks, unscrew the cap (flinching and screaming) take a sip – WOWZERS!

What’s the deal with cork versus screw caps? I’m reading and tasting. Anyone want to join me at Tazza D’Oro for a weekly tasting so we can sip and sort this out?

Another mention – Shady Ave Magazine!

March 23, 2007 by Amy

Have you ever read the Shady Ave Magazine? I do whenever I can get my hands on one. As it turns out there is an article in there about biking in the burgh. Tazza D’Oro leads off the article with the mention of Team Caffeine and Team Deaf and then some good stuff from Bike Pgh. Shady Ave does not have a web site but you can read the article as a pdf file on the Bike Pgh blog. We are excited about our involvement with the fast growing bike seen in our city – and all these bikers love coffee too!
