In today’s business section of the PG, Google CEO, Eric Schmidt, says “the real innovations of the future will not come from a conference room but from a coffee shop.” Dr Schmidt, Tazza D’Oro is ready for your Pittsburgh googlers to come and innovate – our new crop coffees and espresso are perfect brain fuel! In fact, our location in the Gates Hillman Centers is well…almost ready. Check out the interview and article. It made me feel proud of our city and all the amazing things that happen here!

Looks like the East End is officially under lock down for the G20 (btw, to all the smart people- please stay in the room when big decisions are being made). We have a cupping tomorrow at Tazza D’Oro beginning at 3:30 pm. Come and learn about and taste our amazing coffees roasted by Verve. In fact we hold cuppings every Thursday, not just during the G20! Does anyone else besides me want to yell bingo when they hear G20?
Thursdays at 3:30 pm – cuppings and coffee tasting at Tazza D’Oro!
After a busy day of meetings we are almost there for new our location at the Gates Hillman Centers on the CMU campus. And almost means we have final drawings
We have tables, awesomely comfortable chairs, and beautiful views to the outside
An important foundation of an espresso bar…plumbing! I felt so proud to take this picture – it’s all about the possibility and opportunity and it’s up to us to make it happen!
And a view of the front door which leads to Tazza D’Oro. The Gates Hillman building/complex is amazing and has many amazing stories of the vision to build it, it’s purpose, functioning, utility and it’s connection in the CMU campus to create a vibrant and interactive community.
I am happy to give you a tour and hope to announce our opening date in the next week!
We will be closed on Monday, Sept 7th. See you Tues at 7 am. Have a great holiday!
After another morning of espresso training and cupping coffees I thought it would be a good idea to drink up all the new knowledge and intensity of the last couple of days with a little shift in perspective.
So, after the last of the trainings and my meetings we hopped in the car for a trip south on Highway 1 to Big Sur. Yep, there wasn’t any coffee to be found in Big Sur and that was exactly the point of the journey today. The coffee on the cupping table was completely awesome, the new ideas and discussions around Tazza D’Oro were inspiring and exciting, but the trip to Big Sur – just no words to describe the vastness and beauty, just no damn words!
(Fall in Big Sur)
We headed back to Santa Cruz under a full moon to a party held in our honor by our friends at Verve. What a great time and the food was totally delicious! Thank you so much, Ryan and Colby and thanks to your crew!
Tazza D’Oro & Verve – in front of Verve’s espresso bar – one gnarly crew! On Saturday we are headed back to Pittsburgh with lots more to share with you. Jennifer, Morgan and Katie – great job!
