Lights-Camera… (updated 2/4)

Three of our baristas got a little live action tonight! As you know, Emily, Braden and Zach are competing this coming weekend in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Barista Competiton happening in Cranberry. We had a full “dress rehearsal” tonight.  As if their nerves weren’t already coming to a boil we had some company – WQED’s OnQ, Pierina Morelli brought in all the bright lights and camera to film our baristas getting ready for the competition. Hooked with a microphone, HD camera in their work space and face, our baristas cranked out 12 espresso drinks in 15 min and did an outstanding job with their performances. Pierina also spent some time interviewing Emily, Braden, Zach and me – we talked about our passion, commitment and dedication to making the most rad coffee possible! It was quite a night. WQED will also be filming the competition on Friday.

Pierina, thank you! Thank you for recognizing the coffee scene in Pittsburgh and documenting the profession, craft and art of being a barista. We will let you know when the program airs on OnQ.

UPDATE: The competition times are as follows:

Zach: Fri, 2/6, 1:55 pm

Emily: Fri. 2/6, 3:54 pm

Braden: Sat, 2/7, 3:35pm

Here’s a little live action captured-

Zach just emailed me wanting to know if we could bring our statue of the Virgin Mary to the competition. If you missed it see our post OMG! http://www.tazzadoro.net/news/tazza-d-oro/omg/

This is my favorite website, Amy! I just love following the work of Rachel and Braden here. Thank you very much. Break a leg, Braden and Zach and Emily. Well, not really, you know. I'll get a Virgin Mary for the yard and put some special coffee beans in her outstretched hands. Let's go, Tazza D'Oro. No need to cheer for Steelers this week. Put your energy into bringing home a TD win.
