Carol Vanderveer Hamilton is the author of Blindsight, published in 2005 by Carnegie Mellon University. Her poems have appeared in The Paris Review, North American Review, Salmugundi, Poetry Miscellany, The Cimarron Review, The Gettysburg Review, Social Anarchism, and elsewhere. Her script, A NATURAL ARISTOCRAT, is now in the semi-finals of the Academy of Motion Pictures annual screenplay competition. She is writing a nonfiction book about politics. After spending the last year in California, Dmitry Berenson recently moved to Pittsburgh to attend grad school at CMU. During his undergrad at Cornell, he was the Editor-in-Chief of “The Quad” literary magazine and frequently hosted campus poetry readings. In 2005, he was selected as one of four undergraduate readers to present his work to the faculty and graduate students of the English department for that year. He also wrote for “The Lunatic” humor magazine. He has featured at numerous venues around southern California and recently published his first chap book, “Clever.”

Joan E. Bauer grew up in Los Angeles, and for some years taught English and journalism in public and independent schools. With Judith R. Robinson and Sankar Roy, she co-edited Only the Sea Keeps: Poetry of the Tsunami (Bayeux Arts) Her poetry has appeared in The Comstock Review, 5 AM, Janus Head, Paper Street, Poet Lore, Quarterly West, and other journals. Her poem, “Framed in Braintree,” inspired by Carol Vanderveer Hamilton’s article about Sacco and Vanzetti, will appear in the upcoming issue of Italian Americana.
