It seems like an eternity, but a few weeks ago Amelia and I spent a week in the Pacific Northwest. Face and Morgan joined us in Olympia for a few days of amazing coffee tasting at Olympia Coffee Roasters. After all the coffee goodness, Amelia and I took a ferry over to Vashon Island to savor the last 3 days of our visit. As always, our visit with friends, time spent and experiences were amazing and there are no words for our time on Vashon…

Crazy, but we left Seattle and Olympia without one bit of coffee! I spent my mornings on Vashon driving several miles to The Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie (please ck out their site) for a cup…amazing and inspiring history. They have been around for over 40 years and Jim Stewart, the guy who began the whole gig started out his business as The Wet Whisker which then became Seattle’s Best Coffee which then was bought by Starbucks! Jim is still roasting for the current owners and they definitely have their own amazing version of coffee, community and culture. Man, after 40 years of roasting, they still cup every morning and their passion is palpable.
And today, Amelia left me a magazine opened to a page that displays and ad for The Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie (I mean, what are the chances of that?). The top line of the ad is a quote by E.B. White – “I arise in the morning torn between a desire to save the world and a desire to savor it…” E.B. White and the folks at TVICR – I could only hope to arise every morning with an amazing cup of tazza doro coffee and with such clarity! Hey Amelia, thank you – this is one to save and savor!
BTW, if I lived in the Northwest this would be my bike…perfect for riding and drinking coffee – don’t ya think?
